Administration Building | Structural Restoration

The 3-story administration building at the Chios Island Power Plant exhibited significant damage to the plaster on its facades, with extensive corrosion of the steel reinforcement in many parts of the concrete frame. This deterioration caused plaster and concrete fragments to fall, leaving reinforcement rebars exposed and compromising the building’s structural integrity. Additionally, the exterior paint was flaking, and roof slab insulation failure allowed water intrusion, further damaging the structure. Working under a tight timeline, Theta Ktirion personnel completed the structural restoration of the buildings using high-quality cement repair mortars and advanced corrosion inhibitors. The facades were repaired with high-durability resin plasters, and silicon-acrylic paint was applied to complete the facade renovation. The concrete roof slab was re-insulated with a next-generation hybrid polyurethane-acrylic coating, while the underside of the ground floor slab was reinforced with carbon fiber plates (FRP) to restore its load-bearing capacity.
