Power Plant | Main Engine Room Restoration

The northern facade of the main engine room at the Chios Island Power Plant showed extensive damage, with plaster degradation and significant corrosion of the steel reinforcement in several areas of the concrete frame (beams and columns). Plaster and concrete fragments frequently fell, leaving reinforcement rebars exposed, compromising the building’s structural integrity, and posing serious risks to plant personnel and electromechanical equipment.
During the restoration of the concrete frame on the facade, Theta Ktirion personnel used high-quality cement repair mortars and next-generation corrosion inhibitors. The facade was fully repaired with high-durability resin plasters, and a hydrophobic, highly breathable silicon-acrylic paint was applied to complete the renovation.
Finally, the roof slab of the water pump room was structurally restored using high-quality cement repair mortars, corrosion inhibitors, and carbon fiber plates (FRP).
